In a thrilling doubleheader, the Little Rock Trojans and Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions faced off, showcasing the best of in-state college basketball. With over 3,000 fans in attendance, the atmosphere was electric, featuring energetic dance teams, pep bands, and a special tribute to the iconic 2010-11 NCAA Tournament team, led by the legendary Solomon Bozeman.
Women's Victory and Men's Close Call
The women's team kicked things off with a nail-biting 52-50 win, while the men's game saw the Golden Lions edge out a 77-69 victory. Graduate student Jordan Holman led the Trojans in scoring and delivered a crucial three-pointer late in the game, giving Little Rock the lead. Brenna Burk, a freshman, sealed the deal with a clutch free throw after a remarkable defensive play.
In the men's matchup, Tuongthach Gatkek dominated with 18 points and six rebounds, supported by Cameron Wallace's 14 points and Khasen Robinson's 11. The Trojans fought hard in the second half but couldn't quite catch up after a challenging first half.

Announced just a few months ago, the Central Arkansas Tip-Off Classic has already made its mark. The event's success highlights the passion for college basketball in the region, and it's clear this annual gathering will become a must-attend fixture on the sports calendar.

Little Rock's men will face off against Arkansas Tech in an exhibition on October 28, while the women's team opens their regular season on November 3 against Central Baptist College. The men's regular season kicks off the following night against Arkansas Baptist College.
