Fiji's Autumn Nations Series Squad: Ex-All Black Sowakula Switches Allegiance (2025)

Former All Black Pita Gus Sowakula has switched international allegiance to Fiji, joining their squad for the 2025 Autumn Nations Series. This move comes after a Worcester Warriors player was also named in the squad, which will tour the northern hemisphere for three Tests against England, France, and Spain. Sowakula, who hasn't played for New Zealand since 2022, previously earned two caps for the All Blacks but was then snubbed. He's one of three new faces in Fiji's squad, alongside props Tim Hoyt and Atunaisa Sokobale, who play for Worcester Warriors and Castres, respectively. The team is in high spirits after defeating Japan in the 2025 Pacific Nations Cup final. Meanwhile, Richie Mo'unga, another All Black, has signed an 18-month deal with New Zealand Rugby, ruling out a potential switch to Tonga. Mo'unga, a fly-half, is set to return from Japan in 2026 and compete for an All Blacks place ahead of the World Cup in Australia. His agent confirms that Mo'unga is committed to playing for the ABs in the Rugby World Cup, despite earlier interest from Tonga.
